Gophers seem to be increasing in numbers; the municipality has Liquid Strychnine available. Please contact the office if you are interested in purchasing this product.
CHECK IT OUT! The municipality now has a website!! It is a work in progress but please visit and bookmark it. We will be posting all important notices and information throughout the year. We plan to have Policies and Bylaws added soon. Please let us know how you like it, what is good, what would you like us to add, all feedback will be appreciated!
Weed Control There continues to be issues with over spraying and cultivating of the ditches. The concern with this is that the grass which helps control the weeds is also being killed and noxious and invasive weeds have the opportunity to take hold and spread. Please be cautious with your spraying to assist everyone with controlling the spread of weeds. We also ask that you are careful when cultivating in the ditch when the road is elevated, moving dirt too closely to the road damages the edge and compromises the surface. The municipality now has a policy that there is a $1,000 fine for damage to the roads and right of ways.
The old farmer won $1,000,000 in the lottery. The newspaper called and asked him what he was going to do with the money. The old farmer replied “I guess I’ll just keep farming until it’s all gone.”
FARM AND RANCH WATER INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRAM (FRWIP) There are rebates available through The Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program to develop secure and sustainable agricultural water sources, such as wells, dugouts, and pipelines. The program also supports rural well decommissioning. Applicants are encouraged to assess their project against the program criteria and determine program eligibility. You will find information on the Old Wives Watershed Assoc. website oldwiveswatershed.com or call 306 648-3220 for more information.
